Josephine Noone

Morris School District
Washington, NJ
I am a Democratic Councilwoman in Washington Borough and a member of the Washington Borough Green Team. I serve as a liaison to the Business Improvement District (BID) and coordinate the Washington Borough Farmers’ Market in cooperation with the BID and the Green Team. I have also served as a member of and president of the Washington Borough Library Board and a member of the Washington Borough Board of Adjustment. As a Councilwoman, I have sought to preserve open space and improve recreational facilities in Washington Borough. This year, I cooperated with the Washington Borough Green Team and the Trust for Public Land to pass a referendum in support of an Open Space Tax on November 8, 2016. I am currently the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Morris School District and served as the Principal of Alexander Hamilton School in Morristown from 2007 to 2016. In my role as Principal, I spearheaded the creation of a Character Education and Sustainability Curriculum for Grades 3 to 5 with support from the Cloud Institute, Sustainable Morristown, and the Morris Educational Foundation. I also worked with volunteers from our Home and School Association, students, teachers, and community organizations such as the Boy Scouts to make significant improvements to our Ecology Center and Outdoor Classroom, including adding planting beds and planting native trees, bushes and perennials.
