Filomena Machleder will discuss how to partner with the Horizon Foundation to accomplish projects that promote public health.  Leigh Ann Von Hagen will describe an innovative tool, Health Impact Assessment (HIA), used to examine the health impacts on the community. This session will present a case study of an HIA that examined potential health impacts of the Middlesex Greenway Access Plan by identifying how improved access and increased utilization of the trail, located within Metuchen, Edison, and Woodbridge, affect health outcomes.  Ways to empower decision makers to consider health and equity impacts for pedestrians and cyclists will also be discussed.
