Capitalizing on available funding sources, namely the NRCS-USDA Agricultural Land Easement (ALE) program, is essential to meeting the State’s farmland preservation goals. This panel discussion will examine recent amendments to this federal program, difficulties encountered with program administration and opportunities for federal, state, county and non-profit partners to make more efficient use of these funds.

Easement Specialist, USDA-NRCS
Lauren Lapczynski is the Easement Specialist for the United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in New Jersey. She coordinates easement program acquisitions, assisting landowners and partners to permanently preserve agricultural land and wetland functions and values. Lauren is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and joined NRCS in 2010.

Preservation Education Specialist, State Agriculture Development Committee
Cindy Roberts is Development and Training Coordinator for the State Agriculture Development Committee (SADC), the agency that leads New Jersey’s farmland preservation efforts.
